Happy Easter

I've been so busy that I haven't had time to keep up with my blog.  Here is a link to some Easter cards that I've completed last year.

I hope to be creating again soon :)

Use Winter Tags for your Holiday Cookies!

I was trying my hand at icing some sugar cookies over the weekend and inserted a lollipop stick into a large snowman cookie before baking it.  I decided it would make a cute gift for a friend of mine so I added a tag from the Winter Tags set and added some curling ribbon.

The winter tags set is one of my favorite Winter rubber stamp sets.  Here's a link to a couple of other projects featuring this stamp set.

There are many ways to package cookies and food items.  You could create your own box from patterned paper or even stamp on a tin that you've purchased from a local dollar store.

Cookies are great inexpensive gifts that you can personalize to make them really special! (They're also fun to eat.)

Halloween Breakfast Treats - Ghost Toasties

Here's a fun way to serve breakfast for your hungry goblins for Halloween!  Use a ghost shaped cookie cutter to remove the insides of bread slices.  Place buttered bread slices onto a griddle or pan and pour egg whites into the middle and let them cook.  You can make the ghosts stand out a bit more by adding black food coloring to some ketchup.  Spoon it into a sandwich baggie and clip the edge to use it like an icing bag (or you can just use an icing  Trace around the ghosts carefully and add the eyes and mouth.

My daughter thought it would be a good idea to toast the inside pieces  and then make a strawberry jam sandwich.  I poked holes for the eyes and mouth to let the jam show through.

Don't forget to add a rubber stamped tag for your breakfast buffet by using the stamp from the Bone Appetit stamp set from The Angel Company.  Dress up the tag by adding ghost cut-outs.  I used the Sizzix for mine, but you could also cut them by hand.

Fangtastic Liquid Refreshments for your Halloween Party

Do you want to serve some fun drinks at your Halloween party? I bought plastic wine glasses at the dollar store along with a pack of plastic fangs to create this "Fangtastic" refreshment. I thought tomato juice would look more like blood, but I didn't have any on hand! I used the Bone Appetit Stamp set on shrink plastic to create a fun tag to go with it.

Here is a close up of the fangs with the tag.

Halloween Yummy Mummy Chocolate Treats

Julie Griffith posted this clever idea for these quick & easy Yummy Mummy treats for Halloween. She even posted a tutorial on how to make them. Thanks for the inspiration, Julie!

I didn't have any google eyes on hand so I just use small circles from cardstock for mine. (Although they do look much cuter with google eyes!)

I used a Hershey chocolate bar and figured I'd give my "Mummy" a "baby" and wrapped up a Reese peanut butter cup as well.

The kids and I had a great time making these skeleton bone chocolate covered pretzels using a candy mold found at iParty (they also have them at Michael's). They are SO yummy! They definitely qualify as "delectable and crispy treats."

I used the Bone Appetit stamp set which is available along with More Bone Appetit during the Fall into Fabulous promotion. I also used Spookalicious for the skeleton head and Sweet Goodies for the decorative circle around it. That is another great halloween rubber stamp set that I'm sure I'll have more fun using this stay tuned!

Rubber Stamped Halloween Cupcakes!

I'm so glad that TAC did not retire the Trick or Treaters Halloween set. It is one of my all time favorite Halloween rubber stamp sets! The stamp is featured in the Fall/Winter 2009 Inspiration Avenue catalogue.

My friends at Mrs. Mack's Bakery & Restaurant have this really cool printer that uses food coloring as ink and rice paper to print photos on cakes. I noticed some leftover rice paper and they gave it to me so I could take it home. I knew this set would make awesome cupcakes! I colored on the stamps with Food Safe (food coloring) markers and then lightly misted them with my ultra fine mist squirt bottle (like you would when you use the watercolor crayons) and then stamped the images directly onto the rice paper. I colored them in with the food safe markers.

OK...I know what you're thinking...."Didn't she use those rubber stamps to make the Sculpey clay pins?" Yes, I did. I recommend using a clean set that you've never used on anything else, but I cleaned my stamps well hopefully they're not

Stamped Baby Shower Favor & Note Card

I found some cute little die-cut boxes at the dollar store and put together a quick baby shower party favor with a coordinating card. You could also stamp a bunch of the cards as Thank You cards as a gift for the mom-to-be.

These stamps, however, are on the discontinued list and are only available through tomorrow (Friday, June 26, 2009), but the Toodle Loo paper collection will still be available as it will be in the new catalog that is being unveiled at the The Angel Company Seminar as I type this blog entry! You will also find all the Baby Themed Rubber Stamps at my TAC e-commerce site.

I used my Scor Pal to create the embossed lines of the card and my Cuttlebug for the bottom piece with the embossed dots.

The colors in my photo are a bit off (the ribbon isn't really that dark). Here is a thumbnail of the Toodle Loo paper collection with the coordinating cardstock and ribbon. It is a much better representation of the actual colors. It is such nice paper that I only have scraps left...which is all you need for this project!

Created with The Angel Company Rubber Stamps & Supplies:

Paper Collection: Toodle Loo
Coordinating Cardstock: Toodle Loo Cardstock
Coordinating Ribbon: Toodle Loo Ribbon
Rubber Stamps Sets: On Safari & Double Trouble
Craft Punches: 2 1/2" Mega Scalloped Circle, 2" Super Jumbo Circle

Free Paper Dolls Template

These paper dolls were created by Melanie Montes de Oca and are featured on Mischelle's Savvy Projects Blog. Melanie even used on of The Angel Company clamshell boxes to create a storage box for the paper dolls. (The link for the free paper doll printable is at the end of this post.)

Here are a couple of suggestions to try:
  • Print the doll's clothes onto your favorite TAC™ Cardstock Paper Collection. Just cut down any collection to 8 1/2 x 11 and feed it into your printer.
  • Embellish the dolls with buttons, brads, flowers and more!
  • Use Skintone Color Pencils to create a variety of dolls.

Stamped Fabric Ladybug Hat

I'm always on the lookout for things that I can stamp on. Hats, bags, name it. I was thrilled to find a plain cap to embellish for my daughter. This set is perfect for stamping on fabric because it has a bold image.

Created with The Angel Company Rubber Stamps:

Squiggle Ladybugs
Noir Palette Ink
Dries Clear Fabric Glue

The hat and silk flowers were from my local dollar store and the ribbon was from my stash. I used the Dries Clear Fabric Glue to adhere the ribbon to the hat, but I used my hot glue gun for the flowers. I also used some fabric paint glitter on the ladybug spots but you can't see them very well in the photo.

Flutter By Scrapbook Layout

I stopped by Splitcoast Stampers and the SBSC190 Scrapbook Sketch Challenge caught my eye. I had to alter it a bit to fit the 8 1/2 x 11 layout size that I use, but it worked out. I still had the Flutter By set out from when I made the Anniversary card so I figured I'd use it on this layout.

Seriously, you should really get this set before it is retired! I use it all the time.

Stamped Butterfly Anniversary Card

I am celebrating 15 years of a wonderful marriage to my best friend! Here is the card that I will give to him today. It features one of my favorite TAC sets, Flutter By. This butterfly stamp set will be retiring in July 2009 . Do yourself a favor and grab this set while it is on sale for only $8.21. In fact, all of the stamp sets that will be retired by The Angel Company are ON SALE NOW at 25% OFF. Order before July 1, 2009 because these rubber stamp sets will not be in the new catalog.

In case you are wondering how I created this card let me tell you that it was not at all what I originally envisioned. My alcohol inks were feeling lonely because I hadn't used them in such a long time. I created a green colored background on glossy paper. Then I embossed it with one of my Cuttlebug templates. I thought I had made a mistake putting my paper in because the raised edge wasn't on the side that I wanted. Then I thought....hmmm...those leaves would really stand out if I swiped my black ink over the background. That made the leaves show up quite nicely. I ended up with a background that was just crying out (yes, sometimes my art work talks to me) for some butterflies.

I stamped the butterflies separately with black pigment ink and heat emossed with black embossing powder. I colored them in with Copic Markers, cut them out and then placed them on top of the card. I'll admit that I felt guilty cutting off the antennae and wondered if anyone would notice that they were missing....but it was bothering me so I used some really thin craft wire to re-create them.

Craft Chalk Fun

In honor of National Scrapbooking week, I thought I'd try my hand at a scrapbook page. It's been a very long time since I've done any pages. Whenever I'm in my craft room I have my little sidekick along with me. She has her own bin of scraps and (thankfully) her own set of chalks.

I scrap using 8 1/2 x 11 sized pages so I'm always looking for ways to incorporate more photos and journaling onto my pages. This is a one page scrapbook layout. I'm a big fan of hidden journaling.

Easter/Spring Sculpey Pins

I figured it was time to take the snowflake pin off of my daughter's coat so I made her a replacement for spring. It was so cute I decided I needed one for my coat too. Here's my little model showing off both of our pins.

They're super easy to make. All you need is Sculpey clay, black ink, and chalk pencils or markers. Stamp the clay before baking and carefully trim them with a craft knife and/or scissors. Color them after baking. I seal mine with a coat of Modge Podge and then glue the pin backs on them with my glue gun.

Artist's Spotlight - Monika's Easter Cards

Things have been a bit crazy here so I haven't had much time to create. I was pleased to see some images that my friend sent to me of the Easter cards she made using one of my favorite stamp sets from The Angel Company. She was kind enough to allow me to post an image here. Please take a moment to visit Monika at her Creative Corner to see all of her wonderful creations. The link to the other Easter Card is here:
